Automation Hardware Engineer (m/f/d)
Location: Solin
Main responsibilities:
- Review customer specifications, technical requirements, and project documentation to ensure alignment with the project scope.
- Design control cabinets (control cubicles), including layout, component selection, wiring concepts, and electrical schematics.
- Create and maintain electrical documentation in approved E-CAD tools (e.g., EPLAN, Engineering Base).
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (IEC, ISO) and customer-specific requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — software engineering, mechanical design, project management, and procurement.
- Coordinate with suppliers and clarify technical requirements to ensure seamless hardware integration.
- Plan, execute, and document Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for control hardware, ensuring completeness and functionality prior to delivery.
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning, troubleshooting hardware issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to internal engineering processes, tools, and quality standards.
- Contribute to standardization, modularization, and continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and product optimization.
- Conduct and coordinate customer trainings, and develop technical documentation and work instructions.
Required skills, knowledge and experience:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a comparable technical field
- Several years of professional experience in control hardware design and engineering
- Strong proficiency in E-CAD tools (EPLAN Electric P8 or comparable systems)
- Solid knowledge of electrical standards and industrial control systems
- Experience in control cabinet design and in executing FAT procedures
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in international project environments
- Ability to manage multiple interfaces and priorities simultaneously
- Quality- and results-driven mindset
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Willingness to travel internationally (up to approximately 20%)
