Automation Digital Engineer (m/f/d)

Main responsibilities:
- Analyze customer requirements, functional needs, and asset criticality to define monitoring strategies for rotating equipment (e.g., turbines, generators, pumps).
- Design condition monitoring solutions, including sensor concepts, system architectures, and data acquisition strategies.
- Select and specify appropriate sensor technologies (e.g., vibration, temperature, speed, proximity, acoustic, pressure) based on application requirements.
- Define sensor placement, mounting, and installation concepts to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
- Integrate monitoring systems into automation environments, including PLC, SCADA, and digital platforms (e.g., edge devices, cloud systems).
- Configure data acquisition systems and ensure reliable signal processing, data quality, and system interoperability.
- Analyze sensor data to assess machine condition, detect anomalies, and identify failure modes using advanced signal processing methods (e.g., vibration and frequency analysis).
- Develop and refine monitoring approaches, including algorithms, dashboards, and KPIs for predictive maintenance.
- Validate monitoring systems through testing and commissioning activities, ensuring sensor performance and data reliability under operational conditions.
- Support on-site installation, calibration, and commissioning of monitoring systems, including troubleshooting and optimization.
- Prepare technical documentation, monitoring concepts, and condition assessment reports, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Contribute to standardization, continuous improvement, and the development of advanced diagnostic and digital solutions.
Required skills, knowledge and experience:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field.
- Strong experience in condition monitoring of rotating machinery.
- In-depth knowledge of sensor technologies, measurement principles, and industrial monitoring systems.
- Proven expertise in vibration analysis and signal processing techniques.
- Experience with data acquisition systems, industrial communication, and digital/IIoT platforms.
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex technical environments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in international projects and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple interfaces and priorities simultaneously.
- Quality- and results-driven mindset.
- Fluent in English.
- Willingness to travel internationally (up to approx. 30%).
