Our client is Butan plin Slovenia, one of the leading distributors of LPG in the Adriatic region, and is part of the large SHV Energy family. SHV Energy is a leading global energy distributor and is dedicated to developing energy solutions that reduce C02 emissions, providing LPG and LNG as cleaner alternatives and is also active in renewable energy sources

They are looking for a person to join their team in the position of:

System Engineer (m/f/d)

Location: Ljubljana

Main responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive IT support to internal users, including helpdesk, troubleshooting, and structured system and application assistance
  • Planning, maintaining, and optimizing the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, applications, and operating environments
  • Administering and monitoring systems and networks to ensure reliability, security, and seamless integration with backend systems
  • Managing network infrastructure (MPLS, IPsec, SD-WAN, firewalls) to ensure high performance and system availability
  • Overseeing cybersecurity measures, including SIEM tools, vulnerability management, backups, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Performing system monitoring (e.g. Nagios) and supporting the use of AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot
  • Conducting testing and quality assurance for new software and hardware implementations
  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications for internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on digitalization initiatives (ERP, CRM, BI) and IT process improvements
  • Maintaining technical documentation and continuously exploring new technologies to recommend innovative solutions

Required skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows systems and basic understanding of Linux environments
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, preferably Hyper-V
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 / Office 365 and Active Directory administration
  • Solid understanding of network technologies and security protocols (MPLS, IPsec, SD-WAN, firewalls)
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM systems and vulnerability scanners
  • Experience with backup systems, disaster recovery procedures, and system monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios)
  • Interest in digital transformation and modern IT tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot)
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to evolving responsibilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and countries
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between company locations (Slovenia-Croatia)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Relevant technical education background (preferred)
