Head of Delivery
Location: remote
The Head of Delivery at Buckhill will ensure that teams consistently deliver high-quality support to clients through software and professional services. Buckhill’s core client base is in the insurance sector, specifically the London market. A successful Head of Delivery will create the structure, support, and vision necessary to guarantee that the products built are exemplary and serve the needs of clients. This carries with it human impact, positive outcomes for clients, and increased visibility for the organisation.
This role will be accountable for strategic planning, heading up the product team, and managing the Buckhill delivery framework. The Head of Delivery will also work in collaboration with the Human Resources team to develop a talent strategy that ensures Buckhill has the expertise needed to effectively deliver on current and future opportunities.
This is a fully remote opportunity with occasional travel and will report to Buckhill’s CEO.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensure Continuous improvement processes are in place to understand the needs of delivery teams
- Ensure innovations are developed and guidance given to make sure they have what they need to be successful
- Identify delivery roadblocks or issues and resolve them quickly based on recommendations and collaboration with discipline experts
- Establish succession planning and coordination to ensure continuity of delivery on client projects
- Collaborate across departments to yield improved outcomes for employees and clients
- Establish metrics to support desired outcomes and client impact, which are in line with company goals and philosophy
- Support the Product Owners with strategic planning, improve partnerships with existing clients, support expansion of existing work, and identification of new work
- Build industry context and develop an in-depth understanding of what clients will need now and in the future
- Provide strategic recommendations for where to invest in developing skills and specialisation, and deploy training programs as needed
- Create a new system, when a new area of specialisation is identified, to support the growth and development of these specialisations within Buckhill
Desired qualifications & skillset:
- Senior to executive level delivery experience within a software delivery organisation developing large-scale projects
- Experience in developing infrastructure to support high-functioning delivery from development to deployment in a scaling business
- Experience working directly with a software development team, in a hands-on role, building software from scratch in an agile environment
- Understanding of technical product management within cross-functional teams
- Experience influencing client relationships by forming strategic partnerships that drive continued project opportunities
- Comfortable supervising, coaching and empowering Product Owners, delivery leads, and teams within a fully remote environment
- Ability to assess and define client and internal delivery and performance metrics that are consistently monitored, measured and reported on across all projects and teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to have an empathetic approach with clients and internal teams with a focus on building relationship
- Deep understanding of current software best practices, such as:
- CI/CD
- design/architectural patterns
- well-architected framework
- security and compliance
- agile methodologies
- incorporating AI systems
- DevOps mindset
- A collaborative mindset, a willingness to seek differing opinions, and work in partnership, internally within Buckhill as well as externally with our partners and clients
- Experience in leading strategic initiatives to develop talent as it pertains to future growth and delivery objectives and goals

- Experience working in an insurance or finance environment
- PSM I Certification
